ENCERRAMENTO TEMPORÁRIO
Está em curso na área civil do Palácio de São Lourenço a fase final dos trabalhos de reabilitação previstos no Plano de Recuperação e Resiliência (PRR) para a Cultura, coordenado pelo Património Cultural, IP., que definiu como prioritárias a recuperação da estrutura de madeira das coberturas e dos tetos dos salões do andar nobre e área residencial privada, gravemente danificada pelas térmitas; a reparação ou substituição de todas as caixilharias exteriores; e a consolidação definitiva da cúpula da guarita do baluarte norte, há vários anos alvo de trabalhos de contenção provisória. Está também a ser concluído o plano de acessibilidades, destacando-se a instalação de um elevador de acesso ao andar nobre do Palácio, bem como a renovação das redes de instalação elétrica, infraestruturas de telecomunicações e segurança contra incêndios.
Desde agosto de 2025 que o Palácio de São Lourenço está temporariamente encerrado a visitas e eventos culturais para a realização desta intervenção, prevendo-se a sua reabertura no último trimestre de 2026.

TEMPORARY CLOSURE
The final phase of the restoration work, as set out in the Recovery and Resilience Plan for Culture and coordinated by Património Cultural, IP, is currently underway in the civil area of São Lourenço Palace. The plan prioritises the restoration of the timber roof and ceiling structures in the halls on the ground floor and in the private residential area, which were severely damaged by termites. It also prioritises the repair or replacement of all external window and door frames, as well as the permanent consolidation of the dome of the northern bastion’s sentry box, which has been subject to temporary shoring work for several years. The accessibility plan is also nearing completion and will include the installation of a lift to provide access to the palace’s main floor, as well as the renewal of the electrical wiring, telecommunications infrastructure, and fire safety systems.
São Lourenço Palace has been temporarily closed to visitors and cultural events since August 2025 to allow for this restoration work, with reopening scheduled for the final quarter of 2026.
